EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT OPPOSES CAR REGISTRATION TAX

The European Parliament - which is as close as you can get to the voice of the common man in Europe - has voted by a huge margin to scrap taxation on the registration of new autos and to replace it with a tax linked to the amount of pollution that the vehicle produces. The vote, on a proposal by the Danish liberal parliamentarian Karin Riis-Jorgensen, was 385 votes in favour to 139 against.
