EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT URGES RESEARCH SPENDING ON COAL LIQUEFACTION

THE EUROPEAN Parliament is pushing for a Euro 60 million annual budget research fund to focus on gasifying and liquefying coal to develop green motor fuels, notably hydrogen. The money comes from a vestigial budget left over from the European Union's European Coal and Steel Community, an international industrial cooperation organisation that was scrapped in 2002.
