RESTAURANT DON’T SHED STAFF OVER CIGARETTE BANDS SAY USA RESEARCHERS

PUBLIC smoking bans in the USA have not accelerated potentially damaging employee turnover in the hospitality industry according to a University of Kentucky report published in the Contemporary Economic Policy journal. Contrary to an expected spike in key workers quitting posts in restaurants and bars because they wanted to smoke at work, research found a decline in job turnover immediately after smoke-free laws were implemented and 16-to-18 months afterwards.
