UN RULES ON GLOBAL PACKAGING DEAL AGREED BY MEPS

THE EUROPEAN Parliament has approved the writing into European Union (EU) law of the UN's 'globally harmonised system on classification, labelling and packaging of hazardous substances'. A series of technical changes will now have to be implemented by chemical goods packagers by 2015. The UN system mandates safety measures via globally-comprehensible hazard pictograms on labels and commonly used signal words such as 'danger' and 'warning'
