EU FOOD HEALTH CLAIMS LAW COULD STIFLE INNOVATION WARN EXPERTS

THE EUROPEAN Union's (EU) incoming food health claims labelling regulation has been attacked at a Brussels conference for stifling innovation in the healthy food and drink sub-sector. Specialists called for "time out" on the laws' implementation, for an impact assessment. They claimed the regulation was too rigid and restrictive and could deter companies from creating innovative products for fear their labelling would either break the law or be too weak in marketing terms.
