DETERGENT CONTROLS SHOULD BE TOUGHENED THROUGH REACH: EUROPEAN COMMISSION

THE EUROPEAN Commission wants the European Union's (EU) REACH registration process for chemicals to generate sufficient information on specific detergents to enable decisions on whether new restrictions are required. Such controls could go beyond rules under the existing EU detergents regulation. In a report, Brussels said: "Chemical safety reports as part of the registration dossiers will need to demonstrate the safe use [of detergent ingredients] throughout their life cycle.
