CHINA LABELLING

BY KEITH NUTHALLTHE CHINESE government has released plans to reform its cigarette labelling legislation, asking World Trade Organisation (WTO) governments for comments before the rules come into force later this year. Comprehensive tabled regulations administered by the Standardisation Administration of China would insist that cigarette labelling for packets sold in China comply with the country's Trademark Law, including that only officially sanctioned Chinese characters are used (in combination with foreign scripts, such as western letters if necessary).
