FORMAL guidelines have been issued by the European Commission, which call on EU Member States to ensure that auditors should be banned from carrying out a statutory audit if they have any possibly compromising relationship with a client.

Tyre producer, Pirelli Pneus SA, a subsidiary of Italy’s Pirelli SpA, is likely to receive financial assistance from the European Investment Bank to help the company flourish in the South American market.

THE EUROPEAN Union has welcomed the confirmation by Palestinian president Yasser Arafat of a law guaranteeing the independence of his nascent state’s judiciary.
