US DOJ LAUNCHES FRAUD AND GRAFT DISCLOSURE PROGRAMME

The US Department of Justice (DoJ) has launched a self-disclosure programme, offering some fraudsters immunity from prosecution if they own up to their wrongdoing before they are caught. Unveiled on April 15, the DoJ Criminal Division’s Pilot Program on Voluntary Self-Disclosures for Individuals (1) would allow whistleblowers complicit in criminal activity to benefit from a non-prosecution agreement (NPA) in return for their full cooperation, including testifying in court.
