UK VIDEO GAMES TAX BREAK APPROVED BY BRUSSELS

THE BRITISH government has been permitted by the European Commission to grant tax breaks to video game makers in the UK who make games with distinctively British cultural twist. Potentially creating a European Union (EU) state aid law precedent, EU competition Commissioner Joaquín Almunia said the break would focus on “distinctive, culturally British games which have increasing difficulties to find private financing.” *http://ec.europa.eu/competition/elojade/isef/case_details.cfm?proc_code=3_SA_36139
