NEW EU CADMIUM LEVELS ARE VERY TIGHT FOR INFANT FORMULA

New minimum levels of cadmium contamination ordered this week (Monday) by the European Commission for infant formula and chocolate are especially low for baby food, Brussels documents show. From January 1, 2015, these will be a maximum of 0.005 mg/kg wet weight liquid formulae from cows' milk proteins or protein hydrolysates, for instance, with other cadmium limits for formula ranging from 0.01 to 0.01 mg/kg wet weight.
