Mohair production in the southern African kingdom of Lesotho is expected to rebound following extreme climatic conditions in recent years and the overturning of a government-backed monopoly buyer that destabilised the sector.
The landlocked mountainous country, surrounded by South Africa, is the second largest mohair producer worldwide, with wool and mohair accounting for 60% of agricultural exports and supporting 25% of the rural population, according to UN figures.
