THE EUROPEAN Commission is consulting the air traffic control sector on new draft regulations ending a block exemption from December 31 (2006) European Union (EU) competition law for slot allocation and airport scheduling. "After that date", said the proposal, "the airline industry should assess for itself whether agreements and concerted practices (on slot allocation)...satisfy the conditions" of free and fair competition within the EU market.
