EU MINISTERS BACK GIVING ICAO TWO MORE YEARS TO SECURE GLOBAL EMISSIONS AGREEMENT

THE AMBASSADORS of the European Union’s (EU) 28 member states on Friday (March 7) backed an agreement between the EU Council of Ministers and the European Parliament giving the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) two more years to forge a global agreement on aviation emissions.In the meantime, airlines will have to report emissions of flights between airports inside the EU and Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway (the European Economic Area – EEA).
