EU DELAYS INTEGRATING DAIRY INTO ‘CARBON FARMING’ CERTIFICATION, DESPITE INDUSTRY PROGRESS ON ASSESSMENTS

The European Union (EU) has been moving towards creating a groundbreaking carbon removal certification scheme, allowing food producers to gain financial benefits for innovative sustainability, but such work by EU dairy farmers has yet to be properly recognised. That is the criticism of EU food producers' association Copa-Cogeca, commenting on an upcoming EU regulation on a ‘certification framework for permanent carbon removals, carbon farming and carbon storage in products’ (1).
