CALIFORNIA WINES 2005 BUMPER HARVEST WINE PRICE

BY MONICA DOBIETHE CALIFORNIA Wine Institute (CWI) has downplayed concerns that prices of American wine from this year's bumper harvest will fall. 2005 is being trumped as a great year for wine, akin to the highly acclaimed 1997 wines, but with the large amounts of grapes comparable to 2000. "We're very excited about this. This year is a rare combination of high quality and high quantity," said CWI spokesperson Gladys Horiuchi.
