While Bangladesh garment factories are reopening after days of student unrest has subsided, industry leaders have express concern that the chaos has undermined their country’s reputation as a reliable outsourcer.
The government only suppressed the protests by students over job quotas for the descendants of veterans from the country’s 1971 liberation war through a violent police crackdown, shutting down the internet and a curfew. Meanwhile clashes between protesters and supporters of the ruling Awami League killed 197 people.
