EU HEALTH BAN ON AMERICAN POULTRY EXPORTS SET TO END

EUROPEAN Commission officials have confirmed that poultry imports from the US into the European Union (EU) are expected to resume this summer, ending a 10-year ban based on environmental health concerns about antimicrobial agents used by American producers. The Transatlantic Economic Council, an intergovernmental body facilitating trade between the EU and US, should rule in June that American poultry exports should be allowed into the EU, following European Food Safety Authority advice they are safe.
